Our Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency Activities
The German-Irish Chamber of Industry and Commerce has been involved in promoting energy efficiency and renewable energy in Ireland for over five years. The results of our activities have had a very positive influence on Ireland’s push towards sustainable development:
- Our company matchmaking activities have established over 25 solid partnerships between German & Irish renewable and energy efficiency companies, and directly resulted in the introduction of over €100 million worth of high quality technology into Ireland
- Co-ordination of 4 successful fact-finding missions to Germany in field of renewables with a focus on know-how transfer, partnership building and project development in Ireland
- Over 25 seminars and meetings in the above-mentioned fields with a view to information dissemination and awareness building among industry stakeholders in Ireland
- Provision of consultancy to 6 County Councils resulting in renewable energy becoming a standard feature in many affordable housing schemes in Wexford, Dublin & now countrywide
- Development of a sizable database of companies, consultants & decision-makers in the field of renewable energy, energy efficiency and biofuels worldwide

Project description
Participants will travel from Dublin Airport on Sun. 21nd November to Frankfurt/Main. The following days will see company and site visits followed by an expert networking event with all German and Irish participants in the project. The return flight to Dublin from Zurich Airport is on Wed. 24th November.
Price
The Fact Finding Itinerary is free of charge to all participants, but numbers are limited. Participants pay only for their flights, accommodation and meal expenses, as the project is financed by the German Federal Ministry of Economics and Technology (BMWi). A refundable security deposit of €500 per participant is required to guarantee your place. This will be refunded in full upon completion of the project. All participants must submit their flight confirmations prior to the trip.

Germany's Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency Industries
Germany’s renewable energy and energy efficiency industries are mature, well-developed and high-tech. It is also home to both world class technology and a high level of expertise.
- Germany’s goal for its renewable energy industry is the generation of over a quarter of its power from environmentally friendly sources by 2020.
- In 2007, Germany announced its intention to become the most energy efficient country in the world and has pledged an investment of €3 billion euros over the next three years.
Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency Export Initiative
The Renewable Energy Export Initiative has been running since 2003 with the aim of increasing competitiveness in the area of renewable energy in Ireland. The German-Irish Chamber of Commerce has been responsible for introducing state-of-the-art German renewable energy technology into Ireland. During the four years of the Initiative, the German Chamber has brought many German companies together with solid Irish trading partners, and has seen over €100m worth of technology introduced to Ireland.
We are delighted to announce that Energy Efficiency has been part of the programme in 2007. The German-Irish Chamber is one of the twenty pilot Chambers worldwide that has been chosen to carry out research into the potential for energy efficiency technology in Ireland.
The Renewable Energy & Energy Efficiency Export Initiatives are funded by the German Ministry for Economics and Technology in Germany.
