White Paper - Ireland’s Transition to a Low Carbon Energy Future

Download White Paper Ireland

"This is good news for German companies in the field of energy efficiency and renewable energies in particular energy-efficient buildings, photovoltaic, heating systems, bioenergy and wind energy as well as small scale wind and electric vehicles.
The Irish building regulations for residential buildings already require a high energy efficiency standard and the White Paper announced a further increase of standards for residential buildings particularly in regard to energy efficiency in lighting and heating. The new feed-in tariff and political regulations on renewable energies puts Ireland on the map for companies in the area of renewable energy,"
said Ralf Lissek, CEO of the German-Irish Chamber of Industry and Commerce.

Testimonials

“Our visit to the Department of Energy Management and Power System Operation (University of Kassel) was most rewarding. Working with Philip Perry, University College Dublin, we will be seeking to establish a collaboration to enhance the research capabilities in Ireland in this area through a partnership arrangement. In this regard the Tallaght Smart Grid Test Bed, in Ireland, will propose the extension of field trials into the very different conditions which prevail in Ireland. Dr. Jan Hegemann has expressed a strong interest in this proposed collaboration. We will be following this up closely.” (MEGA - Micro Electricity Generation Association, 2015)

"Thanks for an excellent, informative and most useful Smartgrid Study Tour of Germany on 20-22 April 2015. The agenda of meetings were well chosen, balanced and very well presented, and all of the travel and logistics were extremely well planned and executed. The study tour gave me a very good overview of the German Smartgrid situation, and insights into particular aspects of integrating high levels of renewables and distributed generation to replace their nuclear generation into a very complex dynamic open-market grid network."
